One of my favorite part of my job is that I get to share good (occasionally phenomenal) books that I have discovered with you. I thoroughly enjoy talking about good books, interesting plot points, complex characters, literacy skills, and everything else good books have to offer.
Another great portion of my job is hearing about good books!
The question that I propose to you is:
What book have you read this year that you recommend for your classmates?
Make sure to include the title, author, what makes it a good book, and (if you have it) the level.
Cant wait to see what you are sharing!
-Mr. Font
Justin case is a good book because I thick it funny and there is a second book to read too I read both of them and think you should read it
ReplyDeleteAuther Rachel Vail
Lucas, it sounds like s good book! But can you give more description on why I should read the book? And maybe a bit more detail on why you enjoy the book?
DeleteI agree with Caitlin. Can you tell me more about the book so I can know little bit more?
DeleteOne book I love is the Hunger Games. It is a series and I am currently reading and I am on the third and final book in the series. The author did a great job on elaborating and adding detail, which is what we always work on in writing to make our writing better. This book can be violent, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I also loved it because the Author put so many interesting characters in it that have all different personalities that I love reading about each day as I get further in the novel. With this book at a level of a Z 70, based on your level I recommend reading it!
ReplyDeleteI read the first book and second book! I'm reading the third book on my free time though.
DeleteI am very interested! Maybe I can read Caitlin's book after she is done!
DeleteSuch a GREAT series Devan! Glad you are enjoying it!
Delete-Mr. Font
I cant believe you are on the last book Devan! I feel like you just started the first book yesterday! Keep up the good work!
DeleteSide note- The Sisters Grimm Book Club sign-up is now available in our Google Classroom.
ReplyDelete-Mr. Font
Ok thanks for the update.
Deleteno problem!
DeleteOne book I really enjoyed is The Son Of Neptune. It is in a series, The Percy Jackson series. I am currently reading the 3rd book in this series named The Mark Of Athena. Rick Riordan really took his time and did a good job with adding in all of the detail and elaborating. Rick also added very good description of emotion so you could actually feel like you were in the story and feel their emotion. He also wrote his story as if you could feel if you were their with the character on the seen. These characters are very different people and all work together too solve different quests as a team. This series also makes you want to turn the page with all of the interesting scenes and events. This book is a level X/Y 60 if this is close to your level or is your level I really recommend reading this series.
ReplyDeleteThat does sound like a interesting series and after all I do like Greek mythology
DeleteThat sounds like a book I would read! Can't wait to go and check that book out!
DeleteRobert-
DeleteI'm glad you are enjoying the series. I read the first but didn't get to the others in the series yet. You've inspired me to put the series back on top of my book pile.
-Mr. Font
A book that I absolutely recommend is called The Land Of Stories series by Chris Colfer! It is a very astonishing book! It gets you in the good vibe, he hooks the reader once you touch the book! He gives great description and emotion that all the characters are. He also makes you remember how to recognize all of the characters because he put so much description and character traits in the book! My all time favorite book of the series is the second book because this book is more adventure and fantasy, the summary of the book is when they found out there mother has bin captured my an evil enchanteress woman, who once used to be a very gentle and kind wizard and also was the daughter of the fairygodmother, and so Alex and Conne Bailey AKA the main characters, went to go save there mother and they had a bunch of mythical creatures and good old time friends run into them on the way! I very much would pick this book to be your next read at home book! A student in our class, Mary, has also read this book and I would also ask her if this was a amazing book series and I garentie she will say yes! But this book does have a requirement level which is Z 60 , and if you are near that level that's awesome but if you are not, you will just have to wait until you reach near that level.
ReplyDeleteThis is also on my "to read list" and is currently sitting on my nightstand haunting me to open the first book in the series.
Delete-Mr. Font
I should definatly recomed, instead of leaving your book on the nights as you might want to pick it up and actually learn knowledge out of it :)! It's a fantastic book I i would imagine you enjoying this book yourself!!!
Delete-Caitlin
I meant a X 60
ReplyDeleteA book that I read this year that I would recommend to a W 60 is The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan. I would recommend this book because although it is a long book and has new characters it was a very enjoyable read. Also if you finished the Lightning Thief series and want more of Rick Riordan's Greek and Roman mythology you can read the next series of those kinds of novels. So, if you like action packed novels and are searching for a new Rick Riordan novel and are a W 60 level then here's your series.
ReplyDeleteThe lost here sounds very interesting. I may be reading that series when I'm done with the current series im reading!
DeleteThis is the book in the Lost Hero series that I read. It was a while ago and I wonder if I will be able to remember enough of the plot and characters to dive into the second book. Thoughts Michael?
Delete-Mr. Font
Even though I am really enjoying the lightning thief series I cant wait to do the lost hero series! It sounds so interesting this is a must read on my to read list
DeleteThe I'm currently reading is The Dumbest Idea Ever! By Jimmy Gownley. The level is GN. The story is about his life and when his friend Tony Graziano got the idea of making a comic book about them and Jimmy's life with obstacles in school.
ReplyDeleteJoseph, sounds very funny! But can you tell me more about why your book is called the dumbest idea ever? And can you add more details?
DeleteA book I read this year is the Godess Girls. I mean this book is more for girls but if you boys want to read it too go knock youself out. I recommend this book because there are lots of funny parts that you can laugh about, some secrets during the series which makes you want to turn the page so badly to see if you get the answer, some upsetting parts and lots of drama! This book contains lots of themes like friendship, royalty, respect and more! The book makes you feel like your part of the story and when your done trust me, you get that feeling where you get a little sad inside but there is a series so that good news! I hope you guys go check this book out and I hope you read it too!
ReplyDelete-Liv
Right now I am currently reading The Land Of Stories by Chris Colfer! I agree with Caitlin, it's an amazing book. In the book there are many adventures happening in this book. There is adventures, mysteries, romance and lots of foreshadowing. This book isn't just for girls, boys would enjoy this book too! I recommend the Land Of Stories to everybody especially people who love fairy tales! I also would recommend this book because if you stick with the Land Of Stories, when you get to the third book (the one in currently on) you learn some information about the Grimm brothers. I hope everybody takes the time to read this series and if you do I hope you love it just as much as I do!
ReplyDelete-Mary
I am REALLY interested in reading this series. I am also a fan of Chris Colfer!
Delete-Mr. Font
Mary is there a way I can barrow your book? You made me want to read the book so badly!
DeleteA book series that I read this year was the kingdom Keepers books by Ridley Pearson. This is probably my favorite book series I ever read. This book takes place in Disney World, Disney Land and on the Disney Cruise,(Any fans?). If you like mystery books and action books this is the book for you. The parts that kept me turning the page were the intense parts. sometimes they were a little scary, but I like a little scare in my books. Although the characters are very humorous you could definitely notice strong emotions. Some are happy, excited, a hint of love, and even some sad and depressing parts. As I read through the series the characters have really grown on me. I hope I convinced you to read this series and love it as much as I do.
ReplyDeleteThis is another series I started but never finished. I do have this on my summer reading list.
Delete-Mr. Font
Man I had a rough day!, My favorite book is probably Goddess Girls Aphrodite the beauty, It has many great parts like when Aphrodite gives Athena a makeover for the school dance and Athena is (on the market LOL). I also like it because it always spreads a good theme like to help out others and to never give up in hard times. Boys I know you may being thinking that oh its for girls but still its actually really good and some of room 20 are reading the Lighting Thief and that has to do with gods and goddesses I have had a few nice conversations with some of my room 20 friends so I do think lots of people like this book!
ReplyDeleteYes Livy that is a very good book! I hope some people read it too.
DeleteHaven't read the series but it sounds I mean not interesting for me, but they way you wrote the description it was like it sounded awesome!!
DeleteThanks Grace, I might try it!
ReplyDeleteA good book that I suggest you to reading is called Haunted The Ghost On The Stairs by Chris Eboch! I wouldn't call this the most challenging book but depending on your level it could be different. This book has a very exiting plot and will want to make you flip the page as you try to uncover the mysteries of an old hotel in Colorado. While reading this book you get sucked in while you see what happens to the two main characters Jon and Tania when they try to see what is going on in this crazy hotel! (This book does not have a level)I hope you like reading this book !
ReplyDelete-The one and only Jada
I am currently reading Ever After High: A Wonderlandiful World. Its about Cedar Wood, the daughter of Pinocchio, Maddie Hatter, the daughter of the Mad Hatter, Kitty Cheshire the daughter of the Cheshire Cat, and Lizzie Hearts the daughter of the Queen of Hearts trying to save Ever After from the Jaberwock. The Jaberwock is a poisonous snake from Wonderland. They need the vorpal sword to kill the Jaberwock to save Ever After.
ReplyDeleteP.S. the author of this book is Shannon Hale :)
DeleteI read the first book last year Juliana but then I kinda forgot about it and then I read the first Goddess Girls book then I made it to the Percy Jackson series and never got the chance to read it (funny right)! I am hoping to read the ever after series after the Lost hero series ( I have a long list of books to read)!
DeleteI love your response Jules but can you tell us more about wjy out think this is a good book for us and why you personally like the book
DeleteHi! One of my favorite books to read is The wizard of oz by L. Frank Baum. I personally love this book because you just get sucked into it and it is such a timeless classic! I think you guys would like it because it is a fantasy book and I noticed a lot of people either reading The Kingdom Keepers novels or you finished them and I know a lot of you are fans of fantasy and I am too. I have this book but it is special to me because it is a hard cover book and I got it from my cousin years ago. I don't know the level of this book but I was easily able to read it and it is a chapter book so i know that most of you will be able to read it! Hopefully you guy will love it!
ReplyDeleteHi! I am loving the book The Hobbit written by J.R.R Tolkien. If you like long books that involve an adventure, magic, and a good laugh, this one is for you. The main character Bilbo Baggins is just living a normal live, but when the wizard Gandalf comes and invites him on an adventure, things are not so normal for Bilbo. Hope you consider the book. Nay. P.S its a level Z 60. Enjoy reading.
ReplyDeleteI would love to read that book sometime but I bet it takes time to finish right?
DeleteHi everyone My favorite book is Itch by simon mayo. It is a very interesting book. If you are interested in science it is the right book for you(especially the periodic table). It is about a kid named Itch who loves and collects the periodic table. One day he discovers a brand new element in the periodic table element 126. He has to find a place to hide it because other bad companies are trying to use it for bad weapons. Overall it is a fantastic book and I think if you are interested in the periodic table it would be a good book for you. The level was never announced but on the back of the book it says for ages 10+. Thank you and I hope you read and enjoy the book.
ReplyDelete-Zach
Since I sat next to you when you where reading the books I could tell how sucked into the story you got when you where reading it! You got into it so much that you got started learning about the periodic table ( which was awesome by the way!) That story was really cool just by looking at the cover! Hoped you liked reading it

ReplyDeleteIt sounds like a good book but can you tell me more on how you recommend this book to us and why you personally like it?
DeleteI'm on that book Tyler and I really hope that it is good as you describe it! I'm on the 4th or 5th chapter so I still have a long way to go with a lot more of adventures in the lost hero series!
DeleteHey everybody. I really like reading the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books. The great thing about these books is that they are really funny and I can relate to almost everything that happens. The main character is Greg and the books are about him, his family and friends. The books go through his school life, home life and even summer. If you like funny books with some adventure and can see yourself in some of these situations, then Diary of a Wimpy Kid is your series.
ReplyDeleteI was reading Ever After High the first one. I haven't finish but it is really funny!
