Hello friends!
One of the SUPER things about Summer is that we have more open time available to do the things we love, and that includes building our Summer Reading Life.
So far I've read a great deal of nonfiction- Entertainment Weekly. It's a magazine for movie and TV fans. I enjoy reading it and had a pile of the magazines piled up that I did not have the chance to read during the school year. I also completed one fiction book. Because of Mr. Terupt. It was a great book about how one person can have an impact on those around them. Here's a link to the book if you want to take a peek- Because of Mr. Terupt.
What have you been reading this so far this Summer?
Can't wait to hear from you!

April Adventures!
Although we were only in school for about 1 week in April we've already had quite a few...
APRIL ADVENTURES
This month we launched our exploration into nonfiction texts. Working hard to "Rev-up" our minds for nonfiction reading in a similar way that we prepare ourselves to read a fiction book. We have been working hard to identify the Main Idea of a text and pull out the important supporting details. We learned that "pop-out" sentences, titles, headings, and subheadings can be really helpful when trying to determine the Main Idea of a text. We've also learned that Boxes & Bullets really allow us to organize the information we obtain from reading nonfiction texts.
Adventure #2 was Mr. Font's Annual Peep Catapult Challenge. Here you had to work collaboratively to design a catapult that would send your Peep the furthest distance down the hallway. Even though many of you had difficulty in your first trial run- you were able to head back to your design, conduct some research, and make great improvements in the distance your Peep could travel.
Adventure #3 took us to Poricy Park for our class trip. We spent time learn gin about the pond ecosystem and the animals that can survive in the ecosystem. Even though it was cold- we had a good time.
I'm wondering... How did you feel about our April Adventures? Let me know in the comments below!

Welcome to Leprechaun Village
Top O' the Morning to Ya!
Hello Wee-ones!
This past week we have had a blast applying our Math skills of measurement, area, and perimeter to design and construct a building in a Leprechaun Village.
First we hoped we were channeling the lucky of the Irish when, with a partner, we randomly selected the building we were going to be responsible for designing. Some of us pulled the Leprechaun Police Station and School, while others were now responsible to design the Dance Studio and Sports Stadium. Partners quickly got to work designing our respective buildings.
The next day we choose boxes Mr. Font collected to stand for the base of our building based on our design. We were responsible for measuring our box, finding the perimeter, and area. Mr. Font even taught us a wee bit about a fourth grade measurement skill called volume to find out how many units cubed our buildings will hold. Lastly we divided our building into smaller rooms and found the area and perimeter of our smaller rooms.
Finally, it was time to design. Room #21 was covered in green paper and shamrocks as we worked together to make our buildings look like our design. It was so much fun! Our finished buildings, and the Math behind it, can be found on our Seesaw accounts. Check it out!

Book Character Day!
Hello friends! Seuss Week was an absolute BLAST! We had so much fun reading and participating in the events of the day.
One of my favorite days was Book Character Day! I loved seeing the whole school dressed up as their favorite book character (even if my beard was very itchy)! I also love the superhero craft and writing we created to document who you were dressed as on Book Character Day!
Feel free to hop onto your blog and create a post about Seuss Week!

It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!
I was listening to this song and it inspired this blog post.
It got me wondering, What two things are you looking forward to this holiday season and WHY? Make sure to tell me why you are looking forward to those items.
This is published for the world, so make sure to revise and edit your comment!

Greetings from the Happiest Place on Earth
Hello heroes-
I have missed you, but I hear from my top secret spies (Mrs. Lust & Mrs. Dzugan-not so secret anymore) that things are going well. I am having a fantastic time celebrating special occasions with my family and friends.
Short of being kidnapped (couldn't resist channeling our class read aloud) I will be back on Tuesday!
Feel free to check back on this blog for my replies to your comments. (Disney has alot of lines, so I may have some time to respond to your comments).
